Part of Red Ripper
The carb was surprisingly not terrible. The pilot jet was completely seized and had to be removed with an easy out. It was, frankly, the easiest easy out I’ve ever done. After an ultrasonic cleaning and clearing all the passages, there was still quite a bit of aluminum oxide corrosion. To clean it up, I gave the body a light blast with ultra-fine glass media followed by a polish, and it came out looking almost new. Reassembly was done using a Keyster rebuild kit, replacing the #30 pilot jet, #150 main jet, float needle and seat, air screw and spring, choke plunger and spring, needle jet, and bowl gasket.
