After digging into the ignition system, the points were cleaned up and properly set, which brought spark back to life. Good news—the “mad scientist” repair on the original ignition coil actually worked and is producing a healthy spark. That said, the existing components are clearly nearing end-of-life. The points and condenser show their age, and while functional for now, they won’t be trusted long-term. A new coil is already on the way, along with fresh points and a condenser. Once those are installed, the ignition system should be fully reliable and ready for consistent running.
